PENANG KEOW TEOW THNG @ O&S RESTAURANT
Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia
Whenever I miss Penang Food, I will pop over to my regular coffee-shop -  Restaurant O&S in Petaling Jaya  for a good meal. As a Penangite, coming from George Town, I love this place as it has many stalls selling Penang foodThis time round I among other things, I had Penang Keow Teow Thng.
This Keow Teow noodles soup is good, but some may not like it as they also put in pig's small intestines and coagulated chicken blood. For those not so daring, they can always ask the vendor to omit these items.

Keow Teow Thng is flat rice noodle soup. This stall sells it with chicken stock soup. The noodles are boiled separately and the ingredients and soup added on. Ingredients includes sliced chicken, fish balls and sliced fish cake. For garnishing spring onions and deep fried garlic is used. For the more daring, ask the vendor to add the pig's intestine and coagulated chicken blood.

There are many versions of Penang Keow Teow Thng, many like it with duck soup and duck meat - but I have yet to find a stall in the Klang Valley that uses duck soup. Some stall just use pork, but that one is just too bland for me. The fish ball and fish cake used should have a fishy taste just like what was provided for by this stall.

My noodles soup came, however there was a missing ingredient which I personally like but was missing - deep fried lard cubes! So I asked them to add those in.
I dug in and found the soup to be good, the keow teow just nicely boiled (if over-boiled, it will be too soft and loose that bouncy bite). The fish ball had that fishy taste, but the fish cake still loses out to the ones from Penang. The pig's intestine was just adequately boiled long enough for it to be chewy but not elastic. And the coagulated chicken blood was something I had not eaten is quite a while. Overall - YummY!
At RM5-00 per bowl, it is good value for money.
